Cat's Eye Confections was started by long-time best friends Rachel Horesovsky and Moni Burgin. Though our friendship dates all the way back to 1999 (when we met as classmates at Morrisville Elementary), our candy-making journey officially began in 2011, when we spent a year working together at a chocolate shop in Washington, DC. There, we learned the art of chocolate tempering, and were exposed to many unique flavor combinations we still love today, such as lavender pistachio and chocolate cayenne. Inspired by this experience, we decided to pursue a dessert business of our own, and in 2016 ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to open our own food trailer in Austin, TX: Milky Way Shakes. After spending a year testing recipes & renovating a tiny food trailer we bought off CraigsList, we opened for a successful 7-year run before ultimately selling the business and moving back to North Carolina to be closer to family. And that brings us to Cat's Eye Confections! Now that we are back in the Triangle, we are so excited to put our years of vegan dessert experience into our new business. Currently you can find us at the Chapel Hill Farmer's Market once a month, & next year we hope to expand our market presence. Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way!
